The 29th annual Illinois State Championship Chili Cook-Off returns Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Peg Bond Center in downtown Batavia.
Tasting spoons are available for $5, while the chili lasts. There are various competition categories for which people register: Illinois State Championship Cook-Off (CASI sanctioned), and a traditional community contest.

The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., is offered in partnership with the Batavia Park District, Batavia Chamber of Commerce and CASI, short for Chili Appreciation Society International.
