Batavia Lions to sell plants in fundraiser

On Mother’s Day weekend, the Batavia Lions Club will host its 39th plant sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, via a roaming wagon in Woodland Hills and 14th Colony, the group announced in a news release.

Stationary wagons will be in the 7-Eleven parking lot at Wilson and Prairie streets; HC Storm Elementary School, 305 N. Van Nortwick; and on Main Street at Mallory Street across from Ollie’s Garage at 709 Main St.

Plants include geraniums, combination baskets, variegated impatiens, lantanas and petunias.

The Batavia Lions Club has been active since 1974, and will have original charter members selling baskets, the release stated.

All of the fundraising supports local community service projects such as vision and hearing, diabetes, scholarships and the Batavia Interfaith Pantry.
