Fall Festival fun planned at Lyon Farm

The Kendall County Historical Society will present its 47th annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 and 26 at Lyon Farm, 7935 Route 71, Yorkville.

On Sept 25, entertainment includes music by the Templeton’s Blue Grass Band from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., Trish Kinaby Folk Music from 2 to 3 p.m., and Hix’s Bros. Music from 3 to 4 p.m. The Sept. 26 lineup will feature the annual car show, with music from the Big Bopper. Registration for the car show is from 10 a.m. to noon.

Activities for both days include a display of antique farm equipment, hayrides through the farm, craft vendors and demonstrators in the museum, and bags game boards for family fun. The village buildings will be open for touring at your leisure. Children’s activities include climbing a 1920 steam engine, a straw mound, rope making, barrel rides, horse rides and more. Straw and twine will be available for visitors to make their own scarecrow – bring your own clothing. A toy pedal tractor will be raffled during the event.

The food stand will sell grilled hamburgers, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and baked goods. Stop by the Harvest Truck to buy fall decorations, including pumpkins, cornstalks and straw bales.

Admission is $6 per person for ages 13 and older, $4 for children ages 3 to 12, and free for children younger than 2.
