Sugar Grove Kiwanis Club to host first annual Kiwanis Kornfest

Event scheduled for Aug. 7 at Calamity Jane’s

The newly formed Kiwanis of Sugar Grove Township will host its first-ever event, Kiwanis Kornfest, from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Calamity Jane’s in Sugar Grove, according to a news release.

A $10 suggested donation per adult will benefit projects for children in the surrounding community. Guests are asked to bring their own outdoor chairs to the event, as table seating will be limited, the release stated.

Activities for children will be available from 3 to 5 p.m. There will be a bouncy castle, story times, games, prizes, an appearance by The Man with the Yellow Hat from the “Curious George” series, and a touch-a-firetruck event.

A 50/50 cash raffle is planned. Chicks with Picks will provide live music from 6 to 9 p.m. Food will be available all day on the outdoor smoker – brats, hamburgers and fresh corn – and there will be cold beer and soft drinks.

The event is sponsored by several local contributors, including Farmer’s Insurance, Hines Trucking, First Secure Community Bank, Acquino Party Rentals and the Sugar Grove Public Library, with many in-kind donations from Calamity Jane’s at 9S593 Route 47. Donations and sponsorships are welcome, the release stated.
