Candidate filing begins for Yorkville, Newark, Lisbon school board races

Races for seats on Kendall County area school district boards of education began to take shape Monday as candidates filed petitions to have their names placed on the April ballot.

The deadline to file petitions is next Monday, Dec. 21.

Here's a re-cap of the candidates that had filed as of Monday, according to information provided by the Kendall County Clerk's Office:

For Yorkville School District 115, incumbent school board member Shawn Schumacher, of 302 Oakwood Street in Yorkville, filed to run.

For Newark High School District 18, challenger Jason Carlson, of 14,903 White Willow Drive in Newark, filed to run.

In Newark Grade School District 66, two incumbents have already filed - school board secretary Jim Davis, of 27 Coy Park Drive in Newark, and board vice-president Sherry Underhill, of 7 S. Fayette Street in Newark.

And for Lisbon Grade School 90, a mix of incumbents and challengers had filed to run. They include challengers Eric Andersen, of 205 E. North Street in Newark, and Seth Swenson, of 13,837 Apakesha Road in Newark.

Board members Joshua Friestad, of 16,187 Roods Road in Newark, and Brian Hatteberg, of 228 N. Lincoln Drive in Newark, also filed for re-election.
