McHenry County State's Attorney's Office hires new prosecutor

The McHenry County State's Attorney's Office hired a former Chicago litigator as a prosecutor in the criminal division.

Maria R. Marek joined the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office on Nov. 30, according to a news release.

Marek received her law degree from the DePaul University College of Law and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Italian from Georgetown University, according to the release.

She was most recently employed as a litigation associate at Winston and Strawn LLP in Chicago where she represented clients on asylum matters to escape prosecution in their home countries, according to the release.
