Dixon man facing child sexual assault, child pornography charges

DIXON – A 56-year-old Dixon man was arraigned in Lee County court Thursday on 21 felony charges after prosecutors say he possessed child pornography and sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl.

Tod A. Musgrove is charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, which carries a sentence of six to 60 years in prison, and 20 counts of possession of child pornography, each of which carry a sentence of three to seven years in prison.

If convicted of the first charge, Musgrove would be required to serve 85% of the resulting sentence.

Authorities identified Musgrove as a suspect amid a criminal investigation launched in November, according to a Dixon Police Department news release.

In charging documents, prosecutors said the first charge stems from January 2016, when Musgrove, then 51 or 52, sexually assaulted the 8-year-old girl.

No further details on the child pornography charges were immediately available Thursday.

Musgrove, arrested at 3:53 p.m. Wednesday, appeared in court Thursday morning and was issued a $250,000 bond.

He remains in Lee County Jail and has a hearing Dec 9.
