Yorkville police arrest three on drug charges during Thanksgiving traffic enforcement campaign

Yorkville police made three drug arrests during a Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement campaign conducted from Nov. 20-30.

In addition to the drug arrests, police said in a statement they issued seven citations for speeding, three citations for uninsured motorists and three citations for driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Yorkville police and other law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in the campaign in an effort to reduce highway fatalities by getting impaired drivers off the road and more people buckled up.

During the campaign, police placed extra emphasis on traffic enforcement during late-night hours when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.

The campaign was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
