TV thief threatens Joliet Walmart employee with pocket knife: cops

A Michigan man was arrested after he tried to steal a TV from Walmart in Joliet and threatened to stab an employee who confronted him, police said.

About 8:53 p.m. Sunday, officers went to the Walmart at 2424 West Jefferson St. in response to a report of a retail theft, according to a Joliet police news release.

When the officers arrived, they determined Craig Albright, 50, of the 4900 block of West Columbia Road in Mason took a TV from the store and walked outside, passing the last point of purchase without paying for it, police said.

A loss prevention employee for Walmart attempted to stop Albright at the door, police said.

“Albright produced a pocket knife and threatened to stab the employee,” police said.

Police said Albright left the TV and fled from the employee

Officers were able to apprehend Albright in the parking lot and placed him in custody without incident.

Albright was arrested on probable cause of aggravated assault and retail theft. At 11:10 p.m. Sunday, he was taken to the Will County jail.
