Foster: Biden's cabinet nominations show he's building a competent team

U.S. Rep. Bill Foster lauded President-elect Joe Biden's picks to staff his cabinet once he takes office next year.

On Monday, Biden's transition team announced the nomination of Janet Yellen, the former chair of the Federal Reserve, to be the treasury secretary.

"President-elect Biden's selection of Janet Yellen to be the next Secretary of the Treasury shows how serious he is about building a competent team to address the complex economic issues that our nation faces and repairing the damage of the past four years," Foster said in a statement. "Not only will she be the first woman to serve in this position, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on monetary, fiscal, and regulatory policy, so she can immediately get to work on behalf of the American people."

The congressman added that the Biden administration is going to "inherit an unprecedented economic crisis and the Department of the Treasury will need to take a central role in delivering the relief that American families and small businesses desperately need amid a deadly pandemic that continues to rage across the country."

Foster said as a member of the House Financial Services Committee, he wants to work with the Biden administration on "building a stronger, fairer economy for all Americans."

The congressman also complimented Biden's picks to run his foreign policy agenda. The president-elect announced several picks to fill those rolls last week.

Foster commented on Biden's picks via Twitter saying, "America is back."
