Illinois public health officials on Sunday reported 274 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and two new deaths, a man in his 50s and a man in his 70s.
That is the second straight day the number of cases in Kane County has dropped. Kane County saw 357 new cases on Saturday, a drop from the 380 cases reported on Friday.
Kane County has now seen 31,767 total cases of the virus and 431 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen zero consecutive days under the 12% threshold to return to Tier 2 mitigations. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 13.2%. Currently, 23.7% of medical/surgical beds are available and 23.1% of ICU beds.
The region has three consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and three consecutive days over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability. Within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 94 staffed ICU beds available out of 344 total, an increase of 22 from Saturday.
The Kane/DuPage region has a rolling, seven-day average of 666 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Hospitalizations have increased six out of the past 10 days in this region.
Within this region, Kane County's seven-day positivity average is at 15.9%, and DuPage County is at 11.8%. The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period.
