Chris Kringle Market will begin as scheduled in Ottawa

Floret Events announced the Chris Kringle Market will begin as planned Friday, Dec. 4, following guideliness set by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Huts will be spaced at least 30 feet apart, masks will be required and capacity will be limited to 25%.

This year's event takes place at the Jordan block south of the downtown courthouse. The event normally takes place on Jackson Street, near Washington Square.

These guideliness will remain in place until region 2, which includes Ottawa, can move back to tier two of COVID-19 mitigations, which requires a 20% or less positivity rate with increases no more than 10% over a 14-day period, with no overall increase in hospital admissions for COVID-19-like illnesses for 28 days and available surge capacity of at least 14% of ICU beds, medical and surgical beds and ventilators.

Region 2 is not currently on track to meet all of the requirements, according to data released Friday by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
