GENEVA – Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation recognized six Champions of Empathy at a recent recognition event, according to a news release.

The six were recognized and presented with plaques were Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns, Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain, Brian Magnon, Chuck Miles, Amy Eccher and Hahn’s Bakery.

The Champions provided high quality support using Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation programs in the judicial system, its monitory system, financial guidance, its trainer/ facilitator and community development.

These Champions improved life at home and communities, the release stated.

Hain shared examples of what detainees tell him after they complete the Best Start for Families at the Kane County jail.

“I sit down with the men and women and they share that, ‘I can now have a conversation with my kids. I now know they need to have dinner together with me. I know how to have conversation with my kids. I know how to put them to bed and read them a book,’ even if they had non of these things growing up themselves,” Hain said.

Eccher shared examples of Program evaluation research, which supports improved parent skills and efficiency, positive relationships and parent ability to reduce aggressive discipline. Using effective guidance and regulation with children that also strengthen families relationships, the release stated.
