Woman shot through Bolingbrook apartment window: cops

A Chicago woman was arrested after she fired shots through the bedroom window of an apartment in Bolingbrook, police said.

About 11:50 p.m. Sunday, officers were sent to the 300 block of Woodcreek Drive after receiving a report of a domestic battery and shots that were fired through a bedroom window, according to Bolingbrook police.

The officers met with the victim in the incident and learned Destiny Watts, 18, of the 200 block of N. Lorel Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood, allegedly had “made threats to shoot the victim before leaving the area,” police said.

Officers were able to locate Watts and a handgun.

“No one was struck by the rounds fired through the bedroom window, and the victim suffered minor injuries,” police said.

Watts was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, domestic battery and battery.

A criminal complaint filed against Watts alleged that she fired a gun from outside the apartment on Woodcreek Drive and that she was in possession of a Derringer .22-caliber pistol without a valid firearm owner’s identification card.

The complaint also alleged Watts struck two women.

Watts was taken to the Will County jail at 4:12 a.m. Monday.

During Watts’ bond hearing Monday, a judge found probable cause to continue Watts’ detention at the jail and set her bond at $150,000. She will need to post $15,000 for her release from jail.

As a condition of Watts’ bond, she’s not allowed to have contact with the two victims in the case or the Bolingbrook apartment.
