Seneca High names October students of the month

Seneca High School teachers and staff selected by the following students of the month for October:

Daniel Widman, Student of the Month: Daniel is the son of Ron and Cathy Widman of rural Ransom. Daniel plans to attend a four-year university and pursue a degree in chemistry. His goal is to find a career in agriculture after college. He is the senior class president, National Honor Society president, Section 7 FFA secretary, and a Seneca FFA leadership team member, along with being a member of Scholastic Bowl, Math Team, Spanish Club, Varsity WYSE, a student ambassador and TRUST. Daniel said he is thankful for all of the opportunities he has been given to push himself throughout his high school career.

Delany Welsh, Role Model of the Month: Delany is the daughter for Ryan and Tiffany Welsh of Morris. She plans on attending cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell The School Normal starting in August 2021. Delany is active in cross country (captain), track, NHS, Student Council member, TRUST, FCA, wind ensemble, marching band and is a student ambassador. She has started her own jewelry business that is called Delany's Delights and Jewelry and sells handmade jewelry including rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets.

Mahmoud Abushanab, Most Improved Student of the Month: Mahmoud "Mo" is the son of Amjad and Amani Abushanab of Seneca. He hopes to go to Illinois Valley Community College, then Southern Illinois University to study as a diesel technician and in real estate. Mo hopes to become either a real estate agent or diesel mechanic and open his own shop. He is active in auto, TSA, FFA and football.

Gracie Steffes, Rookie of the Month: Gracie is the daughter of Jason and Emiley Steffes of Mazon. Gracie plans to go to college but is undecided in her degree. She is active in cross country, track and FCA.
