One day after reporting four COVID-related deaths, the La Salle County Health Department announced five more novel coronavirus-related deaths Tuesday afternoon — a man and woman in their 70s, a man and woman in their 80s, and a man in his 90s — elevating the county's deaths attributed to the disease since the pandemic began to 123.
The LCHD also reported 104 new and probable cases recorded (bringing that running total to 5,692) along with 158 additional individuals removed from isolation (lifting that total to 3,312). There are 2,257 known, active COVID-19 cases in La Salle County.
The 104 known new cases included a boy and four girls under the age of 13, four boys and four girls in their teens, six men and nine women in their 20s, four men and six women in their 30s, nine men and nine women in their 40s, seven men and 11 women in their 50s, six men and 11 women in their 60s, seven men and one woman in their 70s, three women in their 80s and two women in their 90s.
On Saturday, the most recent day with data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 18.5% of 443 La Salle County residents tested returned positive results, an increase of 4% from the previous day. From Nov. 15-21, the county has had a positivity rate of 16.2%. The positivity rate has been less than 20% for six consecutive days.
