La Salle County coronavirus update: Four additional COVID-related deaths bring total to 118

Ottawa, Marseilles, La Salle, Sheridan lead county in new cases

La Salle County has suffered its 115th, 116th, 117th and 118th novel coronavirus-related deaths, the La Salle County Health Department reported Monday afternoon, with 63 new and probable cases recorded along with 50 additional individuals removed from isolation.

The four deaths were a woman in her 70s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 90s and a woman in her 100s.

The 63 known new cases — which brought the county's running total to 5,589, with 2,317 of those still active — included a boy and a girl under the age of 13, two boys and two girls in their teens, eight men and four women in their 20s, three men and four women in their 30s, five women in their 40s, eight men and 10 women in their 50s, two men and five women in their 60s, two men and four women in their 70s, one woman in her 80s and one man in his 90s.

The 50 new individuals removed from isolation elevated that running total to 3,154.

On Friday, the latest data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health, 14.5% of 987 La Salle County residents tested returned positive results, an increase of 2% from the previous day. From Nov. 14-20, the county has had a positivity rate of 16.4%. The positivity rate has been less than 20% for five consecutive days.

The IDPH's ZIP code data (which sometimes lags behind county numbers) report, with increases since Sunday, reveals:

• Tonica remained at 43

• Millington, also in Kendall County, remained at 26
