La Salle County coronavirus update: 85 new cases Wednesday doubles previous day's total

23 new cases in Ottawa, 17 in Streator, 13 in Peru, 10 in La Salle

Eighty-five new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Wednesday – more than doubling the amount of new cases announced a day before.

Additionally, a La Salle County woman in her 90s died from complications related to COVID-19. There have been 66 COVID-19-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

There have been 2,549 confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic, and of those, 1,798 individuals have been removed from isolation, including 34 more individuals Wednesday. There are 685 active cases countywide.

Two boys younger than 13, two girls younger than 13, a teenage girl, six men in their 20s, eight women in their 20s, five men in their 30s, five women in their 30s, nine men in their 40s, five women in their 40s, three men in their 50s, 10 women in their 50s, eight men in their 60s, three women in their 60s, a man in his 70s, three women in their 70s, seven women in their 80s, three men in their 90s and four women in their 90s tested positive for the virus.

Between Oct. 19 and 25, La Salle County has had 7.4% of coronavirus tests come back positive, including 10.5% on Sunday (out of 219 tests) and 10% on Saturday (out of 380 tests).

The Illinois Department of Public Health's ZIP code data (which sometimes lags behind county numbers), with changes since Tuesday's report, includes:

• Ottawa had 23 additional cases, bringing its count to 459 since the start of the pandemic.

• Streator had 17 additional cases, increasing its total to 492.

• Peru had 13 additional cases, bringing its count to 284.

• La Salle had 10 additional cases, bringing its count to 253.

• Mendota had eight additional cases, bringings its count to 353.

• Marseilles had six additional cases, bringing its count to 166.

• Oglesby had two additional cases, bringing its count to 99.

• Sheridan had two additional cases, bringing its count to 91.

• Earlville had two additional cases, bringing its count to 38.

• Seneca had an additional case, bringing its count to 47.

• Utica had an additoinal case, bringing its count to 46.

• Somonauk, which also is in DeKalb County, remained at 62.

• Grand Ridge remained at 31.

• Leland remained at 29.

• Wenona, which is mostly in Marshall County, remained at 24.• Tonica remained at 17.

• Lostant remained at 13.

• Millington, which also is in Kendall County, remained at 13.

• Ransom remained at nine.

• Serena remained at nine.

• Cedar Point remained at eight.
