Jefferson Elementary in Ottawa has additional COVID-19 case

An individual has tested positive for COVID-19 at Jefferson Elementary School in Ottawa.

School officials announced Tuesday they are working with the La Salle County Health Department to identify anyone who has come into contact with the person who tested positive to help prevent the spread.

In order to prevent further spread, staff and students who have had close contact with the person who tested positive will be quarantined. School officials also are monitoring students and staff for signs and symptons and conducting a deep clean and disinfection of the areas where the person may have been.

This is the second COVID-19 case announced at Jefferson within the last week.
