Maywood man arrested charged in Lake in the Hills home invasion

Police on Monday arrested a Maywood man charged with hitting and injuring a woman during a July home invasion at a Lake in the Hills apartment.

Kane County sheriff's officers arrested 42-year-old Deon Duff on a warrant that was issued June 30, records show. According to a McHenry County grand jury indictment, Duff entered a Cunat Court apartment unit on June 30 without the owner's permission and struck a woman who was inside the home. The woman, who knew Duff, suffered a broken rib, court records show.

Duff left the area in a black Audi and ignored police lights and sirens when an officer attempted to stop his vehicle, court records show. He's accused of fleeing from police at 52 mph in a 25 mph zone and disobeying a stop sign at Crystal Lake Road and Acorn Avenue.

Duff, of the 100 block 20th Avenue, Maywood, is charged with domestic battery, aggravated fleeing police, home invasion, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, and criminal trespass to residence.

A McHenry County judge set Duff's bond at $150,000 Tuesday morning and appointed the McHenry County Public Defender's Office to represent the man. Duff remained at the McHenry County Jail Tuesday afternoon and is expected to make a court appearance Friday morning.
