La Salle County coronavirus update: 2 women in their 80s die from complications related to COVID-19

County has had 65 deaths since start of the pandemic

Two women in their 80s died from complications related to COVID-19, according to a press release issued Modnay by the La Salle County Health Department.

There have been 65 COVID-19-related deaths in the county since the beginning of the pandemic.

Additionally, there were 27 new confirmed cases Monday — two teenage girls, two men in their 20s, five women in their 20s, a man in his 30s, four women in their 30s, two men in their 40s, a woman in her 40s, two women in their 50s, a woman in her 60s, a man in his 70s, three women in their 70s, a man in his 80s, a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 90s each tested positive for the virus.

With the new cases, there have been 2,426 cases countywide since the start of the pandemic, and of those, 1,734 have been removed from isolation — including 17 individuals on Monday.

There are 627 known active cases of COVID-19 in La Salle County.

There have been 39,786 tests taken among La Salle County residents since mid-March and 6.1% of them have come back positive.

The Illinois Department of Public Health's ZIP code data (which sometimes lags behind county numbers), with changes since Sunday's report, includes:

• Ottawa had four additional cases, bringing its count to 431.

• Marseilles had three additional cases, bringing its count to 155.

• Streator had two additional cases, increasing its total to 472.

• Peru had two additional cases, bringing its count to 246.

• Sheridan had two additional cases, bringing its count to 88.

• Seneca had two additional cases, bringing its count to 46.

• Earlville had an additional case, bringing its count to 36.

• Grand Ridge had an additional case, bringing its count to 30.

• Leland had an additional case, bringings its count to 29.

• Ransom had an additional case, bringing its count to nine.

• Mendota remained at 353.

• La Salle remained at 241.

• Oglesby remained at 94.

• Somonauk, which also is in DeKalb County, remained at 59.

• Wenona, which is mostly in Marshall County, remained at 35.

• Utica remained at 45.

• Tonica remained at 17.

• Lostant remained at 13.

• Millington, which also is in Kendall County, remained at 13.

• Serena remained at nine.

• Cedar Point remained at eight.
