Sheridan man dies following two-vehicle crash with deer

A 53-year-old Sheridan man died Friday as a result of injuries from a crash involving a deer on Route 71 near North 47th Road near Newark in Kendall County.

Christopher T. Daly was taken to Morris Hospital where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room, said the Grundy County Coroner's office.

According to the coroner, a vehicle was traveling southbound on Route 71 when it struck a deer and sent the animal into the air and into the path of an oncoming vehicle driven by Daly. The deer came through the windshield and struck Daly in the head causing serious injury, the coroner's office said.

The crash remains under investigation by the coroner's office and the Illinois State Police.
