DuPage County reports single-day record 517 COVID-19 cases, region's positivity down slightly to 9.3%

The DuPage County Health Department on Saturday reported a single-day record 517 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, with no deaths.

The county now has seen a total of 22,187 coronavirus cases including 605 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of October 6 was 96.0%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen eight days of positivity increases and seven days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate decreased slightly from 9.4% to 9.3%, well above the state's threshold of 8%. Currently, 24% of medical/surgical beds are available and 38% of ICU beds.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 6,161 new confirmed cases Saturday, the highest single day increase of cases in Illinois since the pandemic began.

IDPH also announced 63 additional deaths Saturday.

The health department provides further information on its data dashboard for COVID-19-related hospitalizations, deaths, lab positivity and outbreak-associated counts by municipality. This additional information replaces the information that was previously provided daily in this format.
