Harvard man accused of sexually assaulting girl

Police on Thursday arrested a 39-year-old Harvard man accused of sexually assaulting a girl whom he knew.

Nicholas A. Acevedo, of the zero to 100 block of Ayers Street, is charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Allegations date back to Oct. 15, 2019, when Acevedo was accused of inappropriately touching and sexually assaulting a juvenile girl he knew, records show.

He faces an additional charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse that was filed as a separate case Oct. 16. It was not immediately clear whether allegations in both cases pertain to the same victim.

In a separate court filing, a woman claimed that her daughter disclosed the abuse during a car ride, records show.

Later that day, Acevedo removed fuses and the license plates from the woman’s vehicle so she couldn’t leave his driveway, the woman said in the filing. Acevedo has not been charged in connection with any accusations regarding the vehicle.

He remained at the McHenry County Jail on Friday evening on a $12,000 bond.

Acevedo is scheduled to make his next court appearance Monday morning.
