Ex-convict arrested in Oct. 14 Crest Hill shooting that wounded 2

An ex-convict wanted in connection with a shooting that left two wounded in Crest Hill was arrested Tuesday, police said.

After his arrest, Dohndray Woods, 22, was charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, being an armed habitual criminal, aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, according to a statement Tuesday by the Crest Hill Police Department.

Woods' bond was set at $2 million.

A warrant for Woods' arrest was obtained late last week, according to the statement.

“Mr. Woods' arrest is the result of very thorough police work," Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said in the statement. "Our investigators have worked tirelessly to bring this suspect into custody.”

Woods was charged in connection with a shooting Oct. 14 on the north end of Arbor Lane in Crest Hill. A 24-year-old and a 17-year-old were wounded, police said.

Woods was released from prison in April, Illinois Department of Corrections records show. He had pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon by a felon and was sentenced to four years in prison.

In January 2018, Woods was sentenced to 10 days he already served in jail and 24 months of probation after he pleaded guilty to the aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
