Man grabbed female teen in Bolingbrook store parking lot: cops

A man was arrested after he grabbed the waist of a female teen at a Dollar Tree parking lot and then approached her at another store, police said,

About 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to the 200 block of Weber Road for a complaint of disorderly conduct, said Bolingbrook police Lt. Anthony Columbus.

Earlier that day, a 16-year-old female was in the parking lot of Dollar Tree when a man later identified as Bismark Opare, 26, of Bolingbrook, grabbed her waist from behind and leaned his body against her, Columbus said.

“The victim was able to pull away and went inside the store. She did not initially call the police,” Columbus said.

The same teen was inside Party City when Opare once again approached her and was “pacing back and forth in front of her,” Columbus said.

Police were not called until Opare left the area, he said.

“The victim gave a description of the offender which matched an earlier incident,” he said.

Officers responded to another report of a “suspicious person following women in the parking lot” on Weber Road and found Opare, Columbus said. He said there were no complaints at that time and Opare left.

On Sunday, the female teen saw Opare again at Party City, contacted the police and he was arrested after he was found walking in a shopping plaza, Columbus said.

Opare was charged with aggravated battery in a public place.

On July 7, 2018, Opare was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and criminal sexual abuse. On Jan. 28, 2019, he was found unfit to stand trial but he was later found fit about four months later, court records show.
