Homeless man pleads guilty in March stabbing in Streator

A homeless man pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated battery for a March 19 stabbing in Streator and was sentenced to probation plus substance abuse treatment.

Dylan D. Duffield, 24, also listed as resident of Streator, could have faced 2-5 years in prison; but under a negotiated plea he was sentenced to 30 months probation, time served plus drug and alcohol treatment.

Duffield was charged after a 24-year-old man sought medical treatment in Streator and told police he had been stabbed in the 300 block of East Bronson Street. Police said the suspect, subsequently identified as Duffield, still was at the scene and was placed in custody.
