The Whiteside County Health Department announced 24 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday as well as 12 recoveries.
The new cases involve eight people in their 20s, six in their 40s, four in their 50s, two in their 60s, one under 20, one in their 30s, one in their 70s and one over 80.
Lee County had 18 new cases and 11 residents newly recovered. The new cases involve six people in their 50s, four in their 30s, two in their 40s, two in their 60s, two in their 80s, one teenager and one person in their 20s.
Carroll County had 32 new cases on Wednesday, involving seven people over the age of 90, as well as five people in their 60s, five in their 70s, five in their 80s, one child, one teen, four people in their 20s, two people in their 30s, one in their 40s and one in their 50s.
Ogle County had 17 new cases Wednesday.
Whiteside County has had 1,079 cases and 21 deaths. Lee County has had 541 cases, 395 recoveries, one death and currently has five people hospitalized. Carroll County has had 326 cases and eight deaths. Ogle County has had 968 cases, 774 recoveries and six deaths.
The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen six days of positivity increases and two days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased significantly from 9.6% to 10.1%, still the highest rate of any of the state's 11 regions. Currently, 37% of medical/surgical beds are available and 43% of ICU beds.
The North region (Region 1) is under additional COVID-19 mitigation measures from the IDPH as of Saturday, Oct. 3. If Region 1 continues to report positivity rates above 8%, further mitigation efforts may be taken. To return to the standard Phase 4 restrictions, the region will need to maintain an average positivity rate of less than or equal to 6.5% over a 14-day period.
The region's counties that are reporting the highest positivity rates are Winnebago (11.1%), Boone (10.9%), Lee (10.6%) and Jo Daviess (10.4%). DeKalb County's postivity rate is at 8.8%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health on Wednesday announced 2,862 new cases and 49 COVID-related deaths. The state has seen 327,605 cases and 9,074 deaths.
Sterling has had 4,766 tests and 358 cases. Rock Falls has had 2,571 tests and 227 cases. Dixon has had 6,161 tests and 351 cases. Rochelle has had 4,283 tests and 492 cases.
