Families can enjoy nighttime trails and hear stories about the creatures that lurk in local natural areas after dark at "Spooky Tales on the Trails," a program offered by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County.

Participants will enjoy a hike, then gather around a campfire to roast marshmallows and listen to a few spooky tales with a district naturalist.

The program is for all ages and unfolds from 6 to 7:3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles.

Advance registration is required; the fee is $2 per person. Call 630-444-3190 or e-mail programs@kaneforest.com to register.
