La Salle County coronavirus update: Five more new recoveries than new confirmed cases

The number of La Salle County residents known to have active novel coronavirus cases fell by five Thursday, as 11 new positive tests and 16 additional recoveries — the exact opposite of the previous day's numbers — reported by the La Salle County Health Department took the current number of known, active cases down to 493.

The 16 new recoveries bring that running total to 1,226.

The 11 new cases — two boys under the age of 13, four women in their 20s, one man in his 40s, one man and one woman in their 50s, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s — bring the running total to 1,775.

Fifty-six La Salle County residents have died from complications related to COVID-19.

There have been 30,896 tests taken among La Salle County residents since mid-March, with 5.75% of them having come back positive.

Changes in the Illinois Department of Public Health's ZIP code data [these numbers sometimes lag behind the county reports and are adjusted as more information becomes available] from Wednesday's report include:

• La Salle had three additional cases, increasing its total since the start of the pandemic to 176.

• Streator had two additional cases, increasing its tally to 388.

• Ottawa had two additional cases, increasing its total to 298.

• Peru had two additional cases, increasing its total to 153.

• Mendota had one additional case, increasing its count to 281.

• Oglesby had an additional case, increasing its total to 68.

• Somonauk, which also is in DeKalb County, had one additional case, increasing its total to 43.

• Marseilles remained at 108.

• Sheridan's tally remained at 52.

• Utica's count remained at 41.

• Seneca's count remained at 29.

• Earlville's tally remained at 25.

• Leland's total remained at 24.

• Wenona, which is mostly in Marshall County, remained at 18.

• Tonica's tally remained at 15.

• Lostant remained at 11.

• Millington, which also is in Kendall County, remained at nine cases.

• Ransom's total remained at seven.

• Cedar Point's tally remained at seven.

• Grand Ridge had one case removed from its total, decreasing its count to 24.
