DuPage County reports 89 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, 1 death

The DuPage County Health Department on Wednesday reported 89 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, and one death, a woman in her 90s.

The county now has seen a total of 17,753 coronavirus cases including 562 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of September 22 was 95.7%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen two days of positivity increases and two days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 5.4%. Currently, 32% of medical/surgical beds are available and 44% of ICU beds.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,273 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 35 additional deaths Wednesday.

By town, Wheaton has had 759 total cases, Glen Ellyn 568, Lombard 857, Villa Park 507, Hinsdale 350, Westmont 572, Darien 319, Downers Grove 715, Elmhurst 921, Warrenville 258 and Winfield 160. Addison has had 1,294 confirmed cases, Naperville 1,296, Carol Stream 935 and West Chicago 1,163.
