The Herald-News hires New Lenox native Sean Hastings to cover hometown

New Lenox native Sean Hastings has joined the staff of The Herald-News to cover his hometown.

Hastings will focus on the community, schools and New Lenox government at part of The Herald-News’ effort to fully cover New Lenox.

As a lifelong New Lenox resident, Hastings brings with him a dedicated approach to local news coverage. He has spent the last year with 22nd Century Media as the editor of The New Lenox Patriot. We are thrilled he is able to bring his in-depth New Lenox insight to our team in hopes of giving New Lenox readers the local news coverage they lost when the Patriot closed.

“I am excited to be able to cover my hometown again and reconnect with all the people that I got to work with previously,” Hastings said. “And I am always happy to hear from the community about story ideas.”

Hastings graduated from Lincoln-Way West High School, where he played baseball and football. He continued his studies at Eastern Illinois University, earning a journalism degree.

Hastings’ interests include playing guitar, watching Chicago sports and listening to music and going on bike rides.

“We feel very fortunate to have brought Sean aboard,” said Herald-News editor Joe Hosey. “He’s going to do a great job, and New Lenox will get the spotlight it deserves.”
