Batavia resident achieves perfect SAT score

Emery Carlson earned a 1600 on the college readiness exam

WHEATON – Batavia resident and St. Francis High School junior Emery Carlson has achieved at perfect score on the SAT, according to a news release from the school.

Emery is the daughter of Elizabeth and Bryan Carlson, and got a 1600, which is the highest possible score, on the college readiness test. The release states that about 2,2 million high school students take the test each year, and less than 1% get a perfect score.

“Emery is the type of student that teachers love to teach.” stated Matt Gorski, English teacher. “She is highly intelligent, but her skills and attributes are not limited to academics – she is also a great leader and a wonderful person who genuinely cares about helping others. Emery demonstrates an intellectual curiosity and a commitment to excellence that extend well beyond the classroom, and she is one of the most remarkable students I have ever taught.”

Emery is currently a member of the National Honor Society, SALT (Student Ambassador Leadership Team), and Student Ministry Team, as well as participates in Girls Varsity Swimming at St. Francis High School.

“I’m honestly not surprised.” stated Bridget Buckley, director of counseling. “Emery is so intelligent and hardworking, in addition to being incredibly thoughtful, conscientious, and kind. I am so proud of Emery for this incredible accomplishment.”

“We are very proud of Emery for achieving a perfect score on the SAT,” stated Principal Raeann Huhn. “Emery has always been very goal oriented. She is an incredibly well-rounded student and is a great example for her classmates.”

According to the release, the SAT® Suite of Assessments is an integrated system of tests that measure what students are learning in class, and what they need to succeed in college. The SAT includes a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test.
