Lee, Whiteside counties announce 16 new COVID-19 cases

The Whiteside County Health Department on Sunday announced 10 new cases of COVID-19. The new cases affect three people in their 60s, three in their 40s, two in their 20s and two in their 30s.

In addition, one person has been lifted off of isolation and is recovered.

Lee County had six new cases on Sunday; two people in their 50s, one in their 20s, one in their 30s, one in their 40s and one in their 60s. Eight additional Lee County residents have recovered.

Whiteside County has had 765 cases and 20 deaths. Lee County has had 365 cases, 289 recoveries and one death.

Ogle and Carroll counties did not report data on Sunday.

Illinois on Sunday announced 1,604 new cases and 14 COVID-related deaths. Statewide there have been 287,930 cases and 8,601 deaths. Ogle County has had 705 cases and six deaths. Carroll County has had 229 cases, 202 recoveries and five deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen eight days of positivity increases – meeting one of the criteria for stricter mitigation measures – and two days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased to 7.9%, the highest rate of any of the state's 11 regions. Currently, 37% of medical/surgical beds are available and 47% of ICU beds.

If the North region (Region 1) reports an 8% positivity rate for three consecutive days, the region will be subject to additional COVID-19 mitigation measures from the IDPH.

Sterling has had 3,668 tests and 273 cases. Rock Falls has had 1,971 tests and 138 cases. Dixon has had 5,153 tests and 267 cases. Rochelle has had 3,651 tests and 354 cases.
