DuPage County reports 216 new COVID-19 cases Saturday, 1 death

The DuPage County Health Department on Saturday reported 216 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, and one death, a man in his 80s.

The county now has seen a total of 17,351 coronavirus cases including 558 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of September 22 was 95.7%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen two days of positivity increases and three days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 5.3%. Currently, 27% of medical/surgical beds are available and 38% of ICU beds.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,441 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 25 additional deaths Saturday.

By town, Wheaton has had 739 total cases, Glen Ellyn 552, Lombard 845, Villa Park 492, Hinsdale 346, Westmont 566, Darien 312, Downers Grove 693, Elmhurst 862, Warrenville 252 and Winfield 157. Addison has had 1,261 confirmed cases, Naperville 1,267, Carol Stream 913 and West Chicago 1,149.
