STERLING – Sterling Public Schools has reported having four students out of school after testing positive for COVID-19.
The district sent out a letter to parents earlier this month that two students from Sterling High School had tested positive for coronavirus, and Superintendent Tad Everett began a weekly update Sept. 13 that included COVID-19 data for the prior week based on students doing in-person learning.
No staff members have tested positive.
There's around 3,400 students in the district from kindergarten through 12th grade, and the four testing positive makes up about just over a tenth of 1 percent.
That does not include what are termed "probables" which are students who either show some symptoms or have come into contact with someone with COVID-19. As of Friday, there were 121 students quarantined, compared to 177 the week before.
"We've seen a decline in total numbers, as well as daily quarantine or probables each of the last two weeks," Everett said. "We are keeping our parents and staff members updated daily."
