Should Princeton lift its burn ban this fall?

City is looking for input

PRINCETON — The city of Princeton’s burn ban still is set in place because of COVID-19, however, city officials recognize the need for residents to burn yard waste before winter takes hold.

The City Council is considering the idea of lifting the ban possibly in November to allow people to take care of their leaves.

It’s the city’s plan to continue monitoring the COVID-19 cases and look for feedback from residents. A final decision will be made during the next council meeting on Monday, Oct. 5.

Fall burning in the city is typically allowed from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30, with the exceptions of Mondays and Fridays. Burning is not allowed before 7 a.m. and must be finished by 5 p.m.
