Harvard woman accused of battering family member, hitting officer in groin

A Harvard woman accused of battering a family member and striking a police officer in the groin is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.

Harvard police arrested 21-year-old Marlene Alvarado at 3:16 a.m. Sunday, according to a criminal complaint. The woman is accused of "pushing and pulling" a family member and using her leg to strike one of the arresting officers in the groin, court documents show.

Alvarado, of the 300 block of North Lincoln Street, is charged with domestic battery, aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting a police officer.

A McHenry County judge set Alvarado's bond at $30,000 on Monday and appointed the McHenry County Public Defender's Office to represent her.

Alvarado posted bail Monday and was released from the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock just before 1 p.m.
