SHABBONA — Youth was served Monday in a triangular cross country meet hosted by Indian Creek.
Earlville harriers Diego Vazquez, a sophomore, and Carlos Gonzalez, a freshman, placed one-two at the three-team affair — Vazquez first in 19:16, Gonzalez second in 19:32.
Serena's Trent Johnson finished eighth in 26:15.
In the girls event which featured just four runners, Serena's Libby Farrell was third in 28:37.

At Spring Creek, the Irish claimed first, with Mendota close behind thanks to Ethan Hanaman's medalist-winning 36.

Lady Pirates finish 6th in invite
At the Bloomington Gold Invitational on Saturday, Ottawa placed sixth in a field of eight which included seven central Illinois programs.
Ella Marvel posted a 2-1 record to score a runner-up finish at No. 1 singles, the Lady Pirates' best on the day. Sara Meyer was 1-2 at No. 2 singles to place fourth.
At No. 1 doubles, Rebekah Felty and Kyleigh Olszewski went 1-2 to also place fourth. At No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, the teams of Grace Satterfield and Mary Riva as well as Avery Landers and Tessa Thiry both posted 1-2 marks and finished sixth.
