Another drop in COVID-19 cases in Kane County Monday

No new deaths reported

KANE COUNTY – Illinois public health officials on Monday reported 41 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.

That is a drop from the 62 new cases reported on Sunday. The total number of cases in the county is now 12,657. The number of COVID-19 deaths in Kane County remains at 325.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen three days of positivity increases and three days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate stayed the same at 5.5%. Currently, 30% of medical/surgical beds and 40% of ICU beds are available.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. The Illinois Department of Public Health will monitor if these indicators show an increase in COVID-19 disease burden with a simultaneous decrease in hospital capacity or if there are three consecutive days greater than or equal to 8% test positivity rate (7 day rolling).

These indicators can be used to determine whether additional community mitigation interventions are needed for a region to control the further spread of COVID-19.

The Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday reported 1,477 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and seven additional deaths.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate remained flat at 3.5%. The state received the results of 38,234 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Monday afternoon.

Illinois now has seen 275,735 total cases of the virus, and 8,457 people have died.
