Sauk Valley reports 37 cases of coronavirus Thursday

The Sauk Valley reported 37 new cases of coronavirus Thursday with 16 in Whiteside, seven in Lee, and 14 in Ogle counties.

Whiteside had five cases younger than 20, two in their 20s, four in their 40s, two in their 50s and three in their 30s, 60s and 70s as well as 14 recoveries for a total of 684 cases, 20 deaths and 518 recoveries.

Lee County reported three cases in their 20s, two in their 50s and two in their 40s and 80s with one new recovery totaling 312 cases, one death and 261 recoveries.

Ogle County has 621 cases, six deaths and 551 recoveries.

Ogle County Health Department Director Kyle Auman said they've received many questions as cases continue to rise.

"We are not seeing major outbreaks anywhere in the county at this moment," he said. "This increase is community spread."

Carroll County, which reports new cases on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, has 211 cases and four deaths.

Testing in the Sterling area totals 3,162 tests and 245 positive cases. Rock Falls has had 1,683 tests and 119 cases, and Dixon has had 4,702 tests and 229 cases.

Illinois announced 2,056 new cases and 25 additional deaths totaling 268,207 cases with 8,392 deaths.
