Gov. JB Pritzker has announced that Region 7 of Restore Illinois, which includes Will and Kankakee Counties, has reached a rolling COVID-19 positivity rate of 6.4%, according to the Will County Health Department.

If Region 7 remains below 6.5% for two more days, current mitigations, including a ban indoor service at bars and restaurants, will be removed.

The restrictions took effect Aug. 26. after Region 7 COVID-19 test positivity rate was at or above 8% for three straight days.

The state had listed Will County at "warning level" for the two weeks prior to enacting the new restrictions for its high level of new COVID-19 cases and, as of last Friday, for its increasing number of deaths from COVID-19.
