McHenry County reports 23 new cases of COVID-19, no additional deaths

The McHenry County Department of Health reported 23 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and no additional deaths Wednesday.

This brings countywide totals to 4,290 confirmed cases, 117 related deaths and two probable deaths. The county's recovery rate increased Wednesday to 97% from 96%.

McHenry County residents have been tested a total of 68,387 times since the pandemic began, according to county-specific data collected by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The Kane County Health Department reported a total of 12,339 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 327 deaths Wednesday.

The Lake County Health Department reported a total of 16,004 confirmed cases and 460 related deaths.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported a total of 266,151 confirmed cases and 8,367 related deaths. So far, Illinois has conducted a total of 4,863,138 COVID-19 tests. The statewide recovery rate is 96%.

Among McHenry County ZIP codes, Crystal Lake (60014) has surpassed Woodstock as the ZIP code with the highest number of COVID-19 cases with a total of 647 confirmed cases, according to county data. Woodstock (60098) follows with 645 cases.

The McHenry County health department reports only ZIP code data that is located within McHenry County, a department spokeswoman said. Any discrepancies between county and Illinois Department of Public Health numbers are likely because of the data's provisional nature and because each health department finalizes its data at different times, she said.

Three ZIP codes in McHenry County (61038, 60135 and 60072) have reported five cases or fewer, according to the health department.
