LocalLit book spotlight: 'When Life Gets Shaky'

I picked up a copy of "When Life Gets Shaky: Parkinson's and Life's Trials" by Dale Hansen of Joliet a couple of weeks ago, and I've been really eager to read it.

Hansen is currently member of WriteOn Joliet, which I co-lead. I've read and reviewed his devotionals, and I know he has Parkinson's. But except for a little tremor, Hansen's Parkinson's isn't perceptible.

I'll share more in Tuesday's LocalLit newsletter.

Here is its Amazon description: "How do I live with Parkinson's? Will I fail at handling life's trials? Is God still working in my life? How do I work through troubles coming my way? This story is my personal journey of living with Parkinson's. I challenge you to intentionally draw closer to God every day and through every trial."

Parkinson's isn't the only "trial" to which Hansen refers in "When Life Gets Shaky."

“We went through infertility and God guided us to adopt two wonderful daughters, who are now happily married,” Hansen said in a 2017 Herald-News story. “He guided Patti through surviving breast cancer twice. Currently, God is working us through my Parkinson’s."
