Ballot boxes need to be placed all over Kane County

To the editor:

I have been very dismayed by the sabotaging of the post office by the Republicans in order to try to steal yet another election.

I contacted Mr. Raymond Esquivel, who is the director of elections in Kane County. He said that Jack Cunningham is considering three locations - three - one at the Clerk's office, one in Aurora and one in Elgin, for ballot boxes.

I would love to know how a Republican-leaning county like DuPage County can put in 300 ballot boxes around the county, but Jack Cunningham is considering 3?

Why isn't Kane County planning on putting in 300 ballot boxes? There should be one outside every civic building - fire stations, libraries, police stations, etc., to make sure that every citizen is able to exercise their right to vote and vote safely, without endangering their lives by having to stand in line.

Isn't it bad enough that the postal service is being sabotaged by the Republicans in an effort to win the election? Is Kane County going to go right along with the president and try to hamper Kane County voters in their quest for a safe place to place their ballots? When I questioned Mr. Esquivel, he told me to contact Mr. Cunningham, thus passing the buck on. When I tried to call, I had to leave my name and number and reason for calling. No chance to talk to anyone.

I believe this is a blatant effort by the Republicans in power to try to dissuade people from voting by simply making it very difficult. This goes against our traditions and Constitution!

Mr. Cunningham, you need to start putting ballot boxes all over this county - Geneva, St. Charles, Batavia and all the other towns and cities in Kane County. I am very disappointed, but not surprised, by the actions of Mr. Cunningham. Voters should not have to choose between their Constitutional right to vote and their health. In these pandemic times. we need to make the ability to vote easier, not more difficult. Voters will remember these times and I will help to remind them!
