Montgomery police cancel annual Halloween Safety Event amid pandemic

The Montgomery Police Department announced Thursday, Aug. 13, that the annual Halloween Safety Event has been cancelled for 2020.

In a brief statement posted to the department's Facebook page, the department wrote, "We look forward to 2021 and the opportunity to provide our community with another great event."

Started in 2013, the community event features several game and activity areas on the grounds of the police department, where children can dress in their Halloween costumes, play games, win prizes, and learn proper safety skills for trick-or-treating.

The event has annually attracted hundreds of area children and parents to the police department grounds at 10 Civic Center Avenue.
