KANE COUNTY – Illinois public health officials on Sunday reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.
That is a decrease from the 81 new cases reported on Saturday. The total number of cases in the county is now 9,759. The number of COVID-19 deaths in Kane County stands at 305.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen two days of positivity increases and three days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 4.4%. Currently 34% of medical/surgical beds are available and 47% of ICU beds.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. The World Health Organization has said that in countries that have conducted extensive testing for COVID-19, the positivity rate should remain at 5% or lower for at least 14 days.
Illinois reported an additional eight deaths and 1,382 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. It marks a drop following two consecutive days with more than 2,000 new cases each.
The state tested 41,354 people over the previous 24 hours. Illinois’ seven-day rolling positivity rate went down to 4.1%. Illinois has now seen 194,080 total cases of the virus and 7,636 people have died. A total of 3,073,988 tests have been run.
