Prosecutors show video of Rockdale attack during Joliet man's trial

The trial of a Joliet man charged with brutally beating and attempting to kill his former girlfriend entered its second day and prosecutors showed a disturbing video that they said captured part of that attack.

Since Nov. 30, 2017, Jason Errichetto, 47, has been in the Will County jail facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery and domestic battery in connection with the beating of a 45-year-old woman that left her clinging to life, police said.

The brutal attack took place the same day at a motorcycle club at 303 Mound Road in Rockdale, according to prosecutors.

Errichetto’s bench trial before Judge Dan Rippy began Monday and will continue Aug. 12, when prosecutors and Errichetto’s attorney Chuck Bretz are expected to make closing arguments.

On Tuesday, Will County Assistant State’s Attorneys Adam Capelli and Jeffrey Tuminello showed several hours of soundless indoor and outdoor surveillance videos that they said showed Errichetto and his former girlfriend meeting at the clubhouse shortly after 12:30 a.m. on the day of the incident.

The video apparently showed Errichetto and the woman talking at the bar for about an hour and half, prosecutors said. About 2 a.m., the woman rushes out the door.

About a half hour later, the outdoor camera captured what prosecutors said was Errichetto dragging the woman by one arm across the pavement outside the clubhouse, kicking her at least five times and then dragging her beyond the fenced entryway.

Around 7 a.m., the same camera showed the woman still lying on the ground outside the entrance. Police officers arrived on the scene and she was taken away by ambulance.

Bretz declined to comment on the videos because the trial is ongoing but said he would address them during his closing argument.

Errichetto previously pleaded guilty to domestic battery in July 16, 2016. He was sentenced to 30 months' probation but prosecutors filed a petition to revoke it after his arrest in November 2017. The petition remains pending in court.
