Letter: The difference between Democrats and Republicans

To the Editor:

Many many years ago, more years than I wish to think about, my father sat me down. He sat me down as he wanted to explain to me the difference between the Republican Party and the Democrat Party.

How they would think, their beliefs and what their goal was. Now remember, there are Republicans who didn't truly follow the Republican philosophy and the same holds true for some Democrats but most in both parties do try.

So what my father told me that day I would like to pass it on to you.

A Republican believes in a smaller government, less government. Fewer rules, less regulation.  Less taxation. Fewer social programs so that the individual would have more freedom for themselves and/or their family to better take care of themselves as they see fit.

A Democrat believes in more government, larger government. More rules, more regulation, more taxation to pay for more social programs so the individual would be more dependent on the government to better take care of themselves and/or their family.

That's it. There is an important election this coming November. The choice is yours. Choose wisely.
