United Way of Lee County raises $428,323 in annual campaign

DIXON – The United Way of Lee County raised $428,323 during its 2019 community fundraising campaign.

The agency recently announced its fundraising total and celebrated its annual campaign awards on Facebook as its March luncheon was canceled because of coronavirus.

United Way supports about 30 organizations throughout the community that service more than 11,000 people.

Businesses receiving Employee Excellence Awards were BorgWarner, Do It Best, Sterling Federal Bank, Wipfli, and Open Sesame Child Care Center.

Other awards include Pam's Hallmark for Small Business of the Year, Dixon Rural Fire Department for Goal Buster, Do It Best for Innovator of the Year and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois for Live United Agency.

Also recognized were Cathy Jecklin for 14 years of board service, Joan Giblin for 3 years board service, Jodi Haeffner for Rookie of the Year, Kayla Halfacre for Board Member of the Year, and Sam Schmitt for Campaign Volunteer of the Year.


The United Way of Lee County's annual community campaign began in 1958. The agency has raised more than $3.7 million in the last 9 years.
